Angel
to Me
(Matthew Rotchford) - Recorded in 2008 for the St. James's Gate
album - We'll Be Right Back (purchase
here) - A ballad written both for my daughter, Julianne
and wife Janis. Inspiration direct from the home front
Alternate
version of just bass
is also included here
House
of Cash
(Matthew Rotchford) - Recorded in Zig Zag with Bahttsi
in 2008 and included as part of Zig Zag One - It Doesn't Have
to Be That (purchase
here) . ..Following the death of Johnny Cash, that was bad
enough - This tune is my response to the ludicrous turn of events
that followed. The legendary home of Johnny and June by Hickory
Lake was known as the House of Cash. It was purchased following
his death by famous Bee Gee, Barry Gibb. He began renovating the
entire thing and in the process proceeded
to burn the whole thing to the ground. Nothing was left but
two carvings in the trees of Johnny and June overlooking the ashes
and their beloved Hickory Lake. Tommy Cash was shown looking at
the ruins of his brother's home and was justifiably completely in
tears.
Dreamers
On the Rise
(John Stewart) - Recorded in 2008 for the Hank
Cramer album - Old Striped Shirt (purchase
here) - another fantastic vocal by Hank and background by
Robby Thran. Listen closely to the wonderful piano work of David
Lange.
The
Bonnie Ship, the Diamond
(Trad.) - Recorded in 2007 for the
Hank Cramer album - Caledonia (purchase
here) - I ran another take playing the melody, not expecting
that take would end up opening the album. The recordings for this
album were the precursor to the tour of Scotland in 2008.
Toughen
Up
- Recorded in 199? This track was put together as a drumming demo
for the immensely talented Vince
Littleton. It must have worked because Vince is now known as
"Vince Diamond" in the very successful touring band, SuperDiamond.
In addition, he is playing with a myriad of players and styles -

Soup (Brandon
O'Brien) -
Recorded in 2000 for the Brandon O'Brien's first album - Waiting
(purchase
here) - This project was a bunch of fun and showcases Brandon's
songwriting skills as well as his skillful drumming. This track
showcases an original composition by Brandon that puts an updated
spin on prog-rock ala King Crimson. Rock On!
My
One and Only Love
(Music - Guy Wood / Lyrics - Robert Mellin) - Recorded in 2006?
with vocalist Ricki Hisaw, pianist Thomas
Rheingans ,and drummer extroidinaire Mark
Burdon. This session was lots of fun - Liam was even in studio
that day, doing his best to be quiet. The recordings were done for
Ken's parents - for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. A nice gift
don't you think? Ricki handles the lyric beautifully - honoring
the time period in which it was written, yet having a style all
her own. Eat your heart out Jaime Cullum.
